柳田國男は 1875年（明治8年）に生まれ 1962年（昭和37年）に死んだ
1875年の人々の感覚と 1962年の人々の感覚が 同じわけはなく
さらにいえば
1962年の人々の感覚と 2022年の人々の感覚が 同じわけもない
だから
柳田國男の感覚は 私たちの理解のはるか外にあることを 忘れてはならない
「褻（ケ）」 と 「晴れ（ハレ）」
「現滅の常なきもの」 と 「永くとどまって変わらぬもの」
「移り動く地上の色」 と 「変わることのない天上の色」
「常の日の安息」 と 「特別な時の興奮」
「樹の陰のようなやや曇ったる色」 と 「こころときめく ゆゆしき禁色」
その違いは 私たちにもよくわかる
でも 禁色の煌びやかさはもうどこにもなく
禁色のゆゆしき感じは もう誰にもわからない
私たちが「褻（ケ）」の色を好むのは
常に興奮している現代に疲れ
以前の渋いという味わいを懐かしく思うからだ
柳田國男は そう説明した
でも
私たちが「褻（ケ）」の色に感じるのは
自然の色の無限の豊かさであって
常の日の安息というようなものではない
自然の色の無限の豊かさのなかで
私たちは生まれ 死んでゆく
この世に禁色を蘇らせても
その色はやがて褪せてゆく
私たちが禁色と思っているものは
もはや禁色ではない
自然の禁色も 人がつくった禁色も
もうどこにもない
