    ウィキクォート(Wikiquote)という名言を集めたサイトの、アルベルト・アインシュタイン(Albert Einstein)とかウィリアム・シェイクスピア(William Shakespeare)といったページには、必ず
    間違って引用されている(Misattributed)というセクションがあって、「その人はそんなことは言っていないのに、その人がそれを言ったということになっている」という名言が並んでいる。

    「その人が言ったかどうか」ということで言い争いが起き、言ったかどうかが明らかでないものもしっかり並んでいる。

    そんなことにはお構いなしに、「言ってもいないのに言ったことになっている言葉」が「Brainy Quotes」などの名言集に並ぶ。

    いい加減なことを書いたり、いい加減なスピーチをする人にとっては、正確さは問題ではない。

    正確なことは堅苦しいといって嫌われ、いい加減なことは面白いといって広まる。

    それで、99.9%の人が広まったことを信じれば、その人がそう言ったということは事実になる。

    過去のことはすべてそう、歴史というものはそういうもの、と言われればそれまでだが、「新たな真実が」などという場合にはほとんどの場合、それは真実などではない。
