I like the word seek specifically as it relates to the practice of living an inspired life because it is such a powerful word. It is purposeful and directional. To seek is to go in search of, to discover, to ask for. Think about that for a minute. To ASK FOR is a powerful, self directed action that many of us struggle to be comfortable with. How many of us struggle to ask for help with tasks at home or work? To ask for help with a medical, financial or family concern? To ask for help critiquing our design, research, art or writing? At times it can be terrifying to ask for help or to seek inspiration or guidance from others so we often simply don’t. Then another day passes and we don’t. Then another day passes and we still don’t. As the cycle continues the thought of asking gets harder and idea of seeking becomes seemingly impossible.
The truth is when we are bogged down with our daily burdens it is too easy to lose sight of the importance of seeking inspiration, seeking guidance. It is too easy to forget the importance of being available to others seeking inspiration, guidance or simply friendship from us. Seeking is something we have to accept and welcome into our daily lives as a practice. Seeking, as the word itself tells us, is a call to action to ask and discover what sets our soul on fire.

SEEK WHAT SETS YOUR SOUL ON FIRE

I recently came across this pin and knew I would have to share it immediately. What I did not know is that before I could write a post and share it I would read the news of the passing of Kate Spade and then shortly after Anthony Bourdain. Having lost a family member to suicide myself this news resurfaced a lot of sadness requiring I first take time to reflect and recenter. This ultimately lead me back to this quote and the practice of seeking what sets my soul on fire. Seeking not only to fuel a positive mindset for inspired living but also seeking to keep the very spark itself going strong.

As we each follow our own unique journey of inspired living I encourage you to seek each and every day. Purposefully seek new opportunities to learn, discover and engage. Ask a friend or colleague to coffee. Take a surprise treat to a neighbor. Pick up the journal you have forgotten about. Paint the blank canvas sitting in your storage closet. Try out that idea you think others might not quite understand.

SEEK WAYS TO KEEP YOUR OWN SPARK STRONG EACH AND EVERYDAY
SEEK WAYS TO BE AVAILABLE TO THOSE THAT MAY NEED HELP KEEPING THEIR SPARK STRONG
