France’s medicines watchdog Agence Nationale de Sécurité du Médicament is suspending the sales of several generic pharmaceuticals made by Indian laboratory GVK Bio – including some versions of everyday drugs – because of doubts over their quality.
In all, 25 pharmaceutical generics will no longer be for sale after December 18, including versions of painkillers ibuprofen and tramadol, antihistamines desloratadine and ebastine, anti-depressant escitalopram, high blood pressure treatment candesartan, dementia treatment donepezil, migraine treatment rizatriptan and anti angina drug rimetazidine.

In all, 25 pharmaceutical generics will no longer be for sale after December 18, including versions of painkillers ibuprofen and tramadol, antihistamines desloratadine and ebastine, anti-depressant escitalopram, high blood pressure treatment candesartan, dementia treatment donepezil, migraine treatment rizatriptan and anti angina drug rimetazidine.
The versions of the drugs are marketed by companies such as Abbott, Mylan, Biogaran (Servier subsidiary), Teva, Cristers, Gerda, Medipha Santé and Zydus.
Generic pharmaceutical manufacturers are responsible for testing the quality of their drugs but the ANSM said its own tests had uncovered faults in GVK Bio’s cardiograph testing equipment.
It said there was no indication that there was any problem with the effectiveness of the drugs, but the balance of risk meant that it was safer to ban the sale of these ones made by GVK Bio. It added that patients using the drugs could easily get different makes of generic.
Only the versions of medicines contained on the ANSM list are banned – other versions marketed by other companies are still available.

第２世代抗ヒスタミン薬
用法用量：12歳以上の小児、成人には１回5mg（１錠）を１日１回服用する。（食事の影響はほとんど受けない）

主な特徴
・従来からあるクラリチン（成分：ロラタジン）の後継となるお薬。ロラタジンは、肝臓で代謝され、デスロラタジンとなって作用。そのデスロラタジンがデザレックスの有効成分。
・薬物代謝酵素の影響を受けず、クラリチンよりも早く効き、高い効果を期待できる。
・眠気の副作用が少ない。国内臨床試験では、505例中5例（1.0％）で傾眠症状。
・お薬の効果が長い（5mg半減期が19.5時間）
花粉症の治療に用いられる抗ヒスタミン薬の理想としては、
速効性があり、効果が持続する
副作用(眠気、作業効率の低下など)が少ない
