The editor’s job has very little to do with working with text. It mostly involves managing the overall process, soliciting articles, and working with the organization. I thought editing was about working with words — but editors do very little work with words. Mostly we work with authors and ideas.
(sk) Working with words and text is the information management and working with ideas, authors and organization is the knowledge management.
Layers are:
data management;
information management;
knowledge management; and
wisdom management.
My definition of wisdom management is to shift local knowledge to global and universal.
The above quote from Sandra Bowles is from the book:
The Layers of Magazine Editing
by Michael Robert Evans.
