    BBC Monitoring provides open source news and information to a range of clients, including in Government, academia and the media, based on its round-the-clock monitoring of TV, radio, press, internet and news agency sources worldwide.

    BBC Monitoring is proud to be part of the BBC Global News Division, providing our customers with 70 years of expertise and sharing the benefits of our extensive partnership network.

    BBC Monitoring employs around 370 people. Many based in Caversham, near Reading, but an increasing number work in our international offices in Europe, Russia, the Caucasus, Central Asia, South Asia, the Middle East and Africa or monitor local media where they live.

    BBC Monitoring is currently funded by the BBC World Service and UK government. As part of an agreement between the UK Government and the BBC, funding of BBC Monitoring will be transferring to Licence Fee funding from 2013/14.

    Stakeholders and customers include:
    BBC World Service, Cabinet Office, Foreign Office, Ministry of Defence, Foreign governments and ministries, Embassies, Security groups, News agencies, Academic libraries, Think tanks, Non-government organisations, International businesses
