Knowledge management (KM) is about changing how people share knowledge. Change management (CM) is about managing change, period. So why is it not obvious to everyone that KM and CM are the perfect complements for each other’s strengths – and weaknesses?
KM can be short-sightedly focused on sharing and generating existing knowledge rather than generating new knowledge, insights and actions. And change management can be siloed in its approach, slotting an organisation’s change journey into a project management timetable without regard for institutional culture, internal resistance and employee aspirations.
… Knowledge is not really knowledge until you give it away. And not only give it away, but spark something new happening, or serve as a catalyst to create something even more innovative, exciting and useful to the organisation.

Knowledge Management as Change Management – Complementary and (Sometimes Overlapping) Visions

The good news is that so much has been written and studied about both KM and change management that successful examples are readily available. The bad news is that someone else’s successful rollout does not necessarily equate to yours. Your organisation is like no other – and your change management or KM programmes will have to be tailored to your unique culture, potential internal obstacles and ultimately vision of where your organisation is headed longer-term.

    Knowledge Management というのは、なんだかもう賞味期限が過ぎた感じがするけれど、10年前に流行っていた頃と同じことを繰り返し言って、生きている人たちがいる。
