Our planet is shaken by cataclysms that are disrupting the living world. As crises unfold, these events are more frequent and worsen. Scientists have discovered that when the balance of the globe threatens to break, cataclysms act as regulators..
They are dangerous for man but also express the life of the Earth, its breathing, its palpitations, its heartbeat. By penetrating their fascinating complexity, this film takes us into the intimacy of our blue planet
This documentary is broadcast on Thursday, April 21, 2022, the eve of Earth Day, at 9 pm on France 5 in the ‘Science Grand Format’. A 90′ and 52′ documentary, written and directed by Christine Tournadre, co-written by Estelle Raffin and Bernard Mathieu.
Produced by Jérôme Duc-Maugé, in co-production with Eklektik productions – Virginie Chapelle.
Distributor: Terranoa
Among the scientists invited, we note the contribution of Philippe Steer (University of Rennes 1, Geosciences Rennes, OSUR).

Volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, tidal waves, hurricanes… Our planet is shaken by cataclysms that are disrupting the environment and the living world. As crises unfold, the damage inflicted on us by these violent events is increasing in number and severity
In recent years science has progressed dramatically and recent discoveries make us see the Earth differently. For a long time it was considered that each cataclysm was an isolated phenomenon, resulting from chance. Today scientists are discovering that there are links between these extreme events..They show that the eruption of a volcano impacts the oceans, that typhoons are likely to cause earthquakes, that melting ice could awaken volcanoes.
Every time the balance of the globe threatens to break, the cataclysms intervene in relation to each other, like regulators.
