Karl Ritter von Frisch, ForMemRS (1886 – 1982) was an Austrian ethologist who received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1973, along with Nikolaas Tinbergen and Konrad Lorenz.
His work centered on investigations of the sensory perceptions of the honey bee and he was one of the first to translate the meaning of the waggle dance. His theory was disputed by other scientists and greeted with skepticism at the time. Only recently was it definitively proved to be an accurate theoretical analysis.

カール・フォン・フリッシュが、ほんとうにこんなことを書いたかどうかは、誰にもわからない。
ドイツ語ではそういう文章は見つからないのにフランス語ではかなり多く見つかるから、誰かがフランス語で書いて、それを見た誰かがそれを英語に訳したと思ったほうがいいのかもしれない。
そういうことはともかく、
アリは一匹では「バカ」でも集団でなら「りこう」で、人間はひとりでは「りこう」でも集団では「バカ」
という文章には、説得力がある。
